Refund Policy
Last updated: 2026-03-18
Version: 1.0 · Company: Submyt Tax Limited (Company No. 780920) · Support: support@submyt.com
1. Purpose of this policy
Submyt provides software that helps users calculate capital gains tax figures and generate filing-ready outputs to support self-filing with the Revenue Commissioners (the “Service”, as defined in our Terms of Service). This Refund Policy explains when refunds are available for B2C subscriptions purchased online.
2. 14-day cooling-off period (subscriptions)
If you purchase a subscription online, you may request a refund within 14 days of the payment date (the “Cooling-Off Period”).
3. Fixed rule: refunds only if the Service has not been used
A refund within the Cooling-Off Period is available only if you have not used the Service.
For the purposes of this policy, the Service is considered “used” if, during the Cooling-Off Period, you do any of the following:
- Import or upload transactions (for example, uploading a broker CSV or other transaction file), or
- Manually add transactions, or
- Generate a calculation output (for example, a CGT calculation summary, tax report, or guided filing report), or
- Download or export any output generated by the Service.
If the Service has been used (as defined above), no refund is available, except where required by law.
4. What you receive if you qualify for a refund
If you request a refund within 14 days and the Service has not been used, we will refund the subscription price paid in full (we absorb payment processing fees).
5. Auto-renewals
If your subscription renews automatically, the renewal is treated as a new payment for the purpose of this Refund Policy:
- You may request a refund within 14 days of the renewal payment date, and
- The same “unused-only” rule applies.
6. Errors and service issues
If you believe the Service has produced an incorrect output due to a defect in the Service, contact us at support@submyt.com. We will review and, where appropriate, correct the issue.
This does not change the refund rule in section 3, except where required by law.
7. Non-refundable circumstances
Except where required by law, refunds are not available if:
- the refund request is made after the 14-day Cooling-Off Period, or
- the Service has been used (as defined in section 3), or
- incorrect, incomplete, or misleading information was provided by you, resulting in an inaccurate output.
8. Effect of a refund (access and pricing)
If a refund is issued:
- access to paid features will end (immediately or on a date we confirm to you), and
- if you later re-subscribe, you will purchase at the prices and plans available at that time. We do not guarantee the availability of any previous pricing.
9. How to request a refund
Email support@submyt.com with:
- the email address on your Submyt account,
- the date of purchase (or renewal),
- the reason for the request.
We aim to respond within 5 business days. If approved, refunds are processed to the original payment method within 10 business days, depending on bank/payment provider processing times.
10. Plan changes and prorating
Upgrades
If you upgrade your subscription plan during a billing cycle, the change takes effect immediately. You will be charged a prorated amount for the difference between your current plan and your new plan, calculated based on the number of days remaining in your current billing cycle. Your existing billing date does not change.
No cash refund or credit is issued for the portion of the original plan already used.
Downgrades
If you downgrade your subscription plan, the change takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle. You will continue to have access to your current plan’s features until then. No partial refund or credit is issued for the remainder of the current billing period.
General
- Plan changes do not affect the refund eligibility rules in sections 2 and 3. A plan change is not a new purchase for the purposes of the 14-day Cooling-Off Period.
- If you upgrade and subsequently wish to reverse the change, the upgrade charge is non-refundable except where required by law.
11. Payment disputes and chargebacks
If you have a billing concern, please contact support@submyt.com before initiating a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank or payment provider. We will work to resolve the issue promptly. Chargebacks initiated without first contacting us may result in suspension of your account pending resolution.
12. Statutory rights
Nothing in this Refund Policy affects your statutory rights as a consumer under applicable law, including the European Union (Consumer Rights) Directive 2011/83/EU as transposed into Irish law. Where any provision of this policy conflicts with your statutory rights, your statutory rights will prevail.
